Gfeller + Hellsgård

Pere Rius

Anna Hellsgård (Sweden) and Christian “Meeloo” Gfeller (France) work since 2001 in the Re:Surgo project (www.resurgo-berlin.com), a silkscreening studio based in Berlin, from where they produce posters, artists' books, zines and publications. both by themselves and with artists they collaborate with. They also manage In:Surgo!, a physical space where they show and sell all the products they publish and where they regularly organize exhibitions, mostly of emergent artists.

Their work track goes back a long time: Bongoût was the previous brand of their alternative, punk and experimental printing edition. But if this experimental restlessness has been mantained over the years, it is now strongly reaffirmed in the last projects, presented in this portfolio. The experimentation and investigation of the creative process through the silkscreen printing technique lead them to merge painting and silkscreen printing in a singular manner, creating a specific language based on overlaps, reserves, pattern repetition, organic geometries, texturized color masses, etc. Always playing with the ink and colors properties: transparencies, opaqueness and even phosphorescences, developing a very coherent and innovative visual game of forms and colors.

Their projects have been showed around the world and many of their works are part of important private or public art collections.
